Tanzanian Premier League club Singida Black Stars SC have cleared Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of alleged match-fixing following the completion of an internal investigation.
The 26-year-old was suspended by the club last month after concerns were raised over his performances in three matches.
The fixtures included Singida Black Stars’ CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Flambeau du Centre as well as league games against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC in the NBC Premier League.
However, after reviewing the incidents, examining the player’s defence and receiving clarification from the club’s General Manager, the investigation found no evidence linking Obasogie to match-fixing.
Singida Black Stars have now reinstated the goalkeeper and confirmed he is free to resume duties under head coach Othmen Najjar.
Obasogie has also apologised for the situation that led to the suspicions and promised to improve on the shortcomings identified in his performances in order to regain the confidence of supporters and stakeholders.
The Nigerian goalkeeper joined Singida Black Stars last year after leaving Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema.
