Nasarawa United chairman Solomon Babanjah has challenged his players to respond strongly after their 1-0 home defeat to Kun Khalifat on matchday 33 of the 2025 to 2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Babanjah addressed the squad and coaching staff at the Lafia City Stadium following a training session, expressing disappointment at the result and the impact it had on supporters and stakeholders.
He said the performance fell below the club’s standards and called for immediate improvement as the season enters a decisive phase.
Babanjah apologised to supporters, including Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and urged the team to move on quickly from the setback.
He stressed that the closing stage of the campaign leaves little margin for error and insisted the squad must refocus to restore confidence among fans.
Technical adviser Mangut Mbwas also appealed for patience, assuring supporters that the team remains committed to its objectives for the season.
Mbwas said the players had drawn on their resilience and were determined to finish the campaign competitively, with ambitions of securing a continental place and challenging for honours still intact.
He added that the team is working to address recent shortcomings and called on supporters to maintain their backing during a difficult period.
Nasarawa United travel to Maiduguri to face El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday before returning to Lafia to host Warri Wolves a week later.
The Solid Miners are fifth on the table with 50 points from 33 matches, while El-Kanemi Warriors sit 12th with 43 points from the same number of games.
