Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has called for focus and momentum as his side prepare for a decisive Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 34 fixture against Shooting Stars SC in Ibadan.
The Harmony Boys face the Oluyole Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday, with kick off set for 4pm, as they continue their push to avoid relegation.
Kwara United arrived in Ibadan on Friday afternoon to allow the squad adjust to local conditions. The team are scheduled to hold their final training session on Saturday evening, including a feel of the natural turf at the venue.
Suleiman has been handed a timely boost with the return of key players ahead of the encounter. Issa Gata is back in the squad after attending to personal matters, while Bright Babatunde returns from suspension following yellow card accumulation. Captain AbdulAfeez Musa is also available, strengthening the team’s options.
However, Ini Emmanuel and Seun Ogunribide were not included in the travelling squad.
The reverse fixture between both sides ended goalless at the George Innih Stadium earlier this season, but Kwara United will be targeting maximum points this time as they look to build on recent victories.
Back to back wins against Nasarawa United and El Kanemi Warriors have lifted confidence within the squad, and Suleiman believes his players understand the importance of the task ahead.
With Kwara United battling to avoid the drop and Shooting Stars aiming to finish strongly in the league, Sunday’s encounter is expected to be tightly contested in Ibadan.
