Nasarawa United have been sanctioned by the Nigeria Premier Football League following multiple breaches of league regulations during their home fixture against Kun Khalifat FC on April 5, 2026 at the Lafia City Stadium.
The NPFL charged the club for failing to provide adequate and effective security, which allowed unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas.
Supporters of the club were also found guilty of throwing dangerous objects towards match officials as they made their way to secure zones. In addition, officials of Nasarawa United were cited for unsporting behaviour deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
The league body further ruled that the club failed to ensure proper conduct of their supporters, leading to the harassment of match officials and the officials being held hostage for 20 minutes.
As a result, Nasarawa United have been fined a total of ₦4 million. The penalties include ₦1 million each for failure to provide adequate security, throwing dangerous objects, unsporting behaviour, and misconduct of supporters which resulted in the harassment of match officials.
The club will also play their final two home matches of the season behind closed doors.
Nasarawa United have been given 48 hours from the date of notice to file an appeal against the sanctions.
