Rangers have been sanctioned by the Nigeria Premier Football League following multiple breaches of its Framework Rules during their home fixture against Barau FC on Sunday, 5 April 2026 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The league found the Enugu club guilty of failing to provide adequate and effective security, which resulted in unauthorised persons gaining access to restricted areas.
Rangers were also cited for the conduct of their officials, which was deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute. In addition, the club failed to ensure proper control of their supporters, leading to the harassment of match officials.
Supporters of the club were further found guilty of gross misconduct against match officials, an act the league said undermines its integrity.
As a result, Rangers have been fined a total of ₦4 million. The breakdown includes ₦1 million for inadequate security, ₦1 million for encroachment onto the field of play, ₦1 million for the unsporting behaviour of club officials, and ₦1 million for failing to control supporters.
The club will also play their remaining two home matches behind closed doors.
Rangers have been given 48 hours from the date of the notice to lodge an appeal against the sanctions.
