Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed confidence ahead of Nigeria’s opening match against Tunisia at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt on Thursday.

According to The Independent Mirror, Nigeria will begin their Group B campaign with a clash against the Junior Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. The group also features Morocco and Kenya.

Speaking to NFF media, Zubairu highlighted the importance of starting strong and revealed that the team’s recent friendly against Egypt has boosted morale.

“The previous friendly match result with Egypt has given us the right momentum heading into this encounter with Tunisia, another tough North African side,” Zubairu said.

He emphasized that while the team is optimistic, they will not be overconfident. “It doesn’t mean we’ll be complacent. It simply gives us the confidence to tackle what lies ahead.”

“Our goal is to claim maximum points against Tunisia, and then take each game as it comes,” he added.

The Flying Eagles will be aiming to make a strong impression in Group B as they seek continental glory in Egypt.
