Tunde Sanni’s Tactical Brilliance Powers Kwara United to 4-0 Thrashing of Lobi Stars

Kwara United head coach, Tunde Sanni, masterminded an emphatic 4-0 demolition of Lobi Stars in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 35 clash on Sunday at the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

From the first whistle, Sanni’s side showed intent, with Wasiu Alalade scoring just six seconds into the game — a new season record and a repeat of his historic strike two seasons ago against Remo Stars. Junior Aimufua added a second goal in the 11th minute, capitalizing on Ibrahim Yahaya’s precise cross.

Despite Lobi Stars gaining composure later in the half, Kwara United’s goalkeeper, Suraju Ayeleso, stood firm, preserving the 2-0 lead going into the break. Yahaya, who had been influential, was forced off due to injury and replaced by Alao Mohammed.

Sanni’s substitutions in the second half proved decisive. The introduction of Issa Gatta, Shola AbdulRaheem, and Wasiu Alalade added fresh energy, and Aimufua struck again in the 81st minute to complete his brace. Ismail Gatta wrapped up the scoring in the final minute, capping off a dominant display.

After the match, Coach Tunde Sanni acknowledged the pressure on the team leading into the encounter and praised his players for executing the game plan. He said the victory provides a morale boost ahead of their Federation Cup quarterfinal clash with Akwa United.

“It’s time to show Akwa United that we are ready to avenge our NPFL loss,” Sanni declared.

Kwara United, now 12th on the NPFL log after 35 matches, travel next to face Enyimba in Aba.
