The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has reaffirmed his commitment to the growth of Barau Football Club with a generous donation of ₦2 million during a visit to the team’s training ground on Monday.
The visit comes as Barau FC intensifies preparations for the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs.
Accompanied by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Atta, his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, and other key aides, Senator Barau praised the team’s achievement in reaching the NNL Super Eight and promised continued support.
“We are here to visit and motivate you, the young players of Barau FC. My vision is to see this club among the top teams in Nigeria and eventually in the world. By the grace of God, I will support you in every possible way to gain promotion to the NPFL,” he stated.
The club’s management, led by Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, warmly welcomed the senator. Others present included Board Member Alhaji Abdul AP, Sporting Director Yahya Muhammad, Club Secretary Umar Lawan, and Curator Aliyu Lawan.
The coaching crew, made up of Technical Adviser Rabi’u Tata, Chief Coach Madu Muhammad, Assistant Coach Surajo Mukhtar, and Goalkeeper Trainer Babangida Muhammad, were also on hand to receive the Senate Deputy President.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Usman Maidubji expressed deep appreciation, describing Senator Barau’s backing as “instrumental” to the club’s progress.
Barau FC will battle seven other clubs in the NNL Super Eight for a coveted spot in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
