Chibueze Ready for Action as Niger Tornadoes Welcome Enyimba

Niger Tornadoes central defender, Chibueze Ezeifule Damien, has confirmed he is fit and ready to return to competitive action after recovering from illness that ruled him out of the opening fixtures of the second round of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Imo State-born defender missed the Ikon Allah Boys’ last three league matches but says he has now fully recovered and is available for selection ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against Enyimba FC in Minna.

Chibueze has been one of Niger Tornadoes’ standout performers this season following his arrival from Kun Khalifa FC. Before his absence, he featured in 18 league matches and formed a solid central defensive partnership with Sunday Akinmoladun, helping the club maintain one of their most reliable backlines in the division.

Nicknamed “Maldini” by teammates and supporters, the centre-back credits his admiration for AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini as a major influence on his defensive style and mentality.

“I admire Maldini because he was a true leader and a fighter who always gave everything for the badge,” Chibueze told NTFC media. “Watching him while growing up shaped my mentality as a defender.”

The defender described his time at Niger Tornadoes as a defining stage in his career and expressed determination to repay the confidence shown in him by the club’s coaching staff.

“This is my first real experience in the NPFL, and it means a lot to me,” he added. “I want to show commitment, sacrifice, and consistency for this club. The trust from the coaches is something I must repay with strong performances.”

Confirming his readiness for action, Chibueze said he is fully fit and eager to make an immediate impact.

“I’m healed, well-rested, and ready to make a strong comeback,” he said.

Niger Tornadoes host Enyimba FC in their only home fixture in January, with the Minna-based side keen to halt a run of defeats. Chibueze’s return is expected to provide a timely boost as the Ikon Allah Boys seek renewed defensive stability.
