Barau FC head coach Eugene Agagbe has praised his players for following instructions and showing resilience after the Maliya Boys held Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Thursday.
The Matchday 23 encounter, played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, ended 0–0, with Barau FC putting in a disciplined away performance to secure a valuable point.
Agagbe said his side’s ability to execute tactical plans was key to the result.
“Actually, I want to commend my players. It isn’t easy to pick up points away from home, but surely the players obeyed my tactics, and that’s why we got something here,” he said in a post-match interview.
The draw extends Barau FC’s unbeaten run to four matches in the second round of the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
Barau had earlier beaten Niger Tornadoes before recording successive draws against Enyimba in Aba, Bayelsa United in Kano, and now Bendel Insurance in Benin.
Agagbe confirmed that attention has already turned to their next league outing.
The Kano-based club will host Ikorodu City in Matchday 24 next week at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, as they continue their battle to climb away from the relegation zone.
Following the result, Barau FC have moved up to 15th place on the NPFL table with 27 points from 23 matches.
