Imama Amapakabo has turned his attention to Abia Warriors’ next Nigeria Premier Football League fixture, with his side set for a difficult away trip to Katsina United this Sunday.
The Umuahia-based club have endured a frustrating run in recent weeks, dropping points in consecutive home matches despite taking the lead in both games. Those setbacks have now left them facing back-to-back away fixtures, starting with Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium before a further trip to champions Remo Stars.
Abia Warriors collected only one point from their last two outings, losing 2-1 to Nasarawa United before being held to a 1-1 draw by Wikki Tourists. The results have seen them slip from second to fourth in the league standings.
Despite the recent dip in form, Amapakabo remains optimistic about getting a positive result in Katsina.
“We have a very long journey to Katsina, so it’s all about staying calm,” he said, speaking to the club’s media team before departure.
“We’ll travel to Katsina, rest and, like every other league game, we’ll play it and try to get something there.”
The Warriors will, however, be without several key players for the trip. Augustine Njoku, Yakub Hammed, Wilson Elu, Innocent Godwin, Ayodele Ezekiel and Israel Joseph have all been ruled out due to injuries and illness.
With two demanding away matches ahead, Abia Warriors will be looking to recover the points lost at home and keep their push near the top of the NPFL table on track.
