Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has promised to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes following Thursday’s 1–0 defeat to Kun Khalifat in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Harmony Boys were undone by a 52nd-minute strike from Chikamso Amaefula at the Dan Ayam Stadium in Owerri, extending their poor run away from home.
Speaking after the match, Suleiman admitted his side is going through a difficult spell, pointing to a dip in form and the absence of key players who have left for foreign trials.
“This is a difficult moment for us,” Suleiman said. “We have not scored a goal since the restart of the league in the second stanza. We’ve lost form and players to foreign trials, but we will surely strengthen the squad and ensure we maintain our league status.”
The defeat leaves Kwara United sitting 19th on the NPFL table after 23 matches, deepening their relegation concerns.
Suleiman and his team will now turn their attention to Monday’s fixture in Ilorin against Warri Wolves as they look to revive their campaign.
