Sporting Lagos have announced they will conclude their ownership stake in Danish club Aarhus Fremad, bringing an end to a chapter that began in 2023 with the aim of creating a pathway for Nigerian talent into European football.
In a statement released by the club, Sporting Lagos confirmed that while their ownership involvement is ending, the relationship between both sides will continue.
The Lagos-based outfit said the partnership helped establish strong connections across the football world through transfers, trials, and collaborations, expanding opportunities beyond the original pathway into multiple routes for player development.
Sporting Lagos highlighted the progress made during the two-year period, noting that two of their players represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The club also pointed to recent transfer successes, including Mukhtar Adamu’s move to Norwegian side Odds BK, where he went on to win the Young Player of the Year award, alongside four additional international transfers completed in 2025.
Sporting Lagos explained that their decision reflects a growing focus on the early stages of talent development within Nigeria.
“The greatest value and impact sit at the start of the journey, in the talent pipeline in Nigeria,” the club said.
They praised Aarhus Fremad’s leadership, including Lars and his management team, for their openness and collaboration, while also expressing appreciation for the warmth of the Aarhus community and supporters.
Sporting Lagos added that the partnership was also significant for Aarhus Fremad, who achieved promotion to Denmark’s second division after spending 15 years in the third tier.
The club concluded by describing the partnership as one that created real opportunities for players and lasting relationships beyond ownership structures, insisting that the best part of their journey is still ahead.
